You may nominate yourself or nominate others if you like, but understand that in serving on the board of directors there is both a time and monetary commitment that needs to be taken into consideration when volunteering. Persons wanting to serve on the IWCA board should be committed to serve the membership of the IWCA and the window cleaning industry. The most important role of a director is to ensure that IWCA assesses the needs of the membership and of the industry as a whole, while helping to develop a plan that sets a sound course for the future that the organization can follow.

Criteria to be considered for nomination:

  • Be a member in good standing of IWCA.

  • Must be an official representative or an employee approved by the official representative of an IWCA professional member firm.

Specific areas of responsibility are:

  • Board members serve for three years.

  • They are required to attend three (3) board meetings per year at their own expense.

  • The effective director will be knowledgeable of the affairs and activities of IWCA and will recognize the fiscal and legal responsibilities of the board.

  • Board members will serve on one of the eight major committees:

Board members are also required to:
  • participate in board or committee conference calls throughout the year.

  • to represent IWCA at the annual convention (meeting and greeting attendees)

  • at the Safety Training Regionals (held in conjunction with the board meetings in the Fall and Spring)

  • at other association trade shows where IWCA exhibits,

To serve as secretary or treasurer of the association, the individual must have served at least one year as a director of the board.

The IWCA Nominating Committee meets on October 7 at the Fall Board of Directors meeting in Chicago, IL to review the proposed nominees and present a slate of candidates to the IWCA Board of Directors for their approval. The Nominating Committee will notify all nominees of the results of this meeting.

The official ballots will be mailed mid-November. If you have any questions regarding the nomination process please feel free to contact Debra Nemec, Executive Director of IWCA at 800.875.4922 or email
