Is a Pump needed to use a Tucker Pole?

Generally not.

Of course, you need to have access to a water faucet. In the USA, most water faucets have a pressure of 42 psi (2.5 bar) or greater.

Typically, a pump is used in the window cleaning process on reverse osmosis systems (RO), when one is wanting to manufacture "spot free" water. Also, if you want to transport the water to a job site, you will need a pump. In that application, the pump is used to transfer the water out of your water tank and up to the Tucker Pole.

Some customers will use there carpet cleaning or pressure washer mobile system, using a pressure reducer on the hose, to allow the water to be feed to the Tucker Pole. We recommend that you never exceed 100 psi on your Tucker® Pole hose.

Since we introduced the Tucker® High-Level Window Washer in 1957, the average Tucker Pole user, especially in the United State, has used regular tap water pressure from a water faucet to reach and wash up to 22, 45 and even 83 feet. If your water pressure is below 42 psi or you are in an area where you cannot hook up a to a water faucet, then use of a pump will likely be required, if you want to incorporate this tool into your operation.

The NCAA Tournament tips off today; we wish our customers the very best in this year's NCAA Tournament

It's March Madness time! The NCAAs are upon us and many of you hopefully have your brackets filled out.

Robin Tucker had the pleasure of attending an University of Memphis Executive Education for the Global Leader course back in September 2006 in St. Louis, MO. It was a collaboration between FedEx Human Resource Development Department and the Wang Center of International Business at The University of Memphis.

So, here's my final pick for 2009:

The University of Memphis Tigers

Other Final Four teams:

UNC, Louisville and Villanova

My alma mater, Creighton University was a final bubble team this year. They will play in the second round of the NIT vs. the University of Kentucky on Monday night. Not quite the same.

The University of Iowa, Iowa State University and Drake University all came up short this year.

We do want to wish our daughter's school the very best in the NCAA Tournament. The University of Northern Iowa Panthers will face the Purdue Boilermakers in Portland, OR today. The Panthers will carry the torch for the MVC this season.

The University of Northern Iowa is one of the many Tucker Pole customers in the NCAA Tournament in 2009. For example, Texas A&M and BYU square off in a 8/9 game, both universities have been customers for the Tucker Pole. We wish all the colleges and universities the very best in the tournament and in their facility cleaning in 2009.

The Tucker Pole was one of the tools used in cleaning Biosphere 2 near Tucson, AZ

During the IWCA Trade Show and Convention, last month, we had the opportunity to speak to Five Star Window Care and owner Curt Kempton of Queen Creek, AZ. His "massive Biosphere 2 job" was highlighted in The Professional Window Cleaner magazine Winter 2008 issue, pages 12-15.

The Tucker Pole one of the key tools he used in the cleaning and restoration of the glass at the University of Arizona's Biosphere 2 Project. On page 14 of the story, The Tucker Pole was pictured in use with the caption "A major challenge of the Biosphere project was using acid to clean on such a large scale."

The Arizona Daily Star ran a front page picture and caption of the cleaning and restoration work on Wednesday, October 28, 2008. Here's a link to the Tucker Pole pictured. A closer look of the Tucker Pole is use by Five Star Window Care at Biosphere 2.

We want to congratulate Five Star Window Care on this very unique and unusual cleaning and restoration job. This is not normal use for our products. There are a variety of challenges, especially "Acid Related." As the Professional Window Cleaner magazine captioned, this is "taking waterfed pole use to a new level, employees of 5 Star Window Care tackled 4000 windows of Biosphere 2."

We want to thank Kurt Kempton for his business. We are pleased that our products were able to assist in part in this "massive" cleaning and restoration job.

A different gooseneck may do the trick?

Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. sells goosenecks in various sizes for the Tucker® Pole Window Washers and Exterior Maintenance Systems. We have ran across jobs that a $11 gooseneck can reduce the need for a lift or boom truck for our customers. Goosenecks can be bent at various angles to reach hard to reach places, such as sills, awnings or over exterior window shades.

We visited with Bob's Window Washing of Swisher, Iowa today. He has a job at Palmer College that he is planning to use an extended gooseneck. Often, for post-construction cleanup, getting face to face is necessary, but for routine cleaning, the Tucker Pole is often the tool of choice for all or much of their work at that job site.

Bob's Window Washing didn't use the Tucker Pole for post-construction cleaning at Palmer, but often the Tucker Pole is the tool of choice for those facilities. We appreciate Bob telling us today about his upcoming Spring cleaning.

The right pole model, gooseneck, and brush can move you closer to completing the job right. We want to thank Bob's Window Washing of Swisher for their business.

Do you have a story that you want to share, please give us a call or e-mail?
