Our oldest local customer was in for a new Tucker Brush this week
This morning, the Tuesday, after Memorial Day, our oldest local customer came in to order a new 12 AT brush (pictured above). It's not every day, when you have an opportunity to greet a customer who has been using our equipment for over 50-55 years. He was thinking it was back in the 1950s.
He needed a new Tucker brush to clean his automobile. His original brush cracked and he needed to be replaced.
Gene will turn 99 years old this year. He and his wife have been married 76 years. He continues to mow his own lawn, but he did give up mowing and fertilizing his neighbors yard a couple of years ago.
He mentioned today that he has bought our equipment for four locations over the years. Gene is retired from the automotive and recreational vehicle trade. He was telling about his adult children. He mentioned some of them are retired now, as well.

We are excited about a possible new prospect from the Country of Botswana this week. Over the years, we have enjoyed doing business in Nigeria, Egypt and other African nations. Through FedEx, we ship to over 25 different foreign locations.
One real strong market presently for the Tucker Pole is the Country Canada. Whether it be the in-house professional at an educational institution or the contract professional for a window cleaning company, the Tucker Pole is a popular way to reach, wash and clean windows and other exterior surfaces.

A proud fan of the University of Iowa and thankful to a customer, who helped begin high-level window washing
The University of Iowa was our first high-level window washer customer back in 1957 for Tucker® brand of products. Of course, we have enjoyed providing products to the various Big Ten schools over the years. The educational facility market has always been an enjoyable market for the Tucker Pole.
Personally, we had a great Friday night with 12 Washington High School freshman and a lovely home dinner before the Homecoming dance. Thank you to the Ross family for hosting a wonderful dinner. It was enjoyable seeing the young girls and boys and networking and visiting with parents.
Now, it's Hawkeye Football and Homecoming weekend in Iowa City! #17 Iowa hosts #21 Penn State at Kinnick Stadium at 7 p.m. Central Time, also nationally on ESPN. We know a number of friends, neighbors and family that are looking forward to the game tonight at Kinnick and on ESPN. My second game ever in Kinnick Stadium was in 1974, with my parents, Tommy and LaVerne, for the Iowa-PSU game.
Here's to a win at Kinnick Stadium tonight. On Iowa! We look forward to be in attendance for what should be an outstanding game. Iowa-PSU is tied 11-11 lifetime, though Iowa has won seven over the past eight games vs. Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions.

It's Spring Break here in Cedar Rapids ...
Friday, March 19, 2010
Happy svatého Josefa den všem from everyone at Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Today, March 19, 2010 is St. Joseph's Day. Tomorrow, our community will celebrate with the 33rd annual St. Joseph's Day Parade. Traditionally, here in Cedar Rapids, the Irish enjoy St. Patrick's Day and the Czech enjoy St. Joesph's Day. Of course, we can all enjoy celebrating being Irish and Czech once a year.
In 1945, Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. was founded by I.L. (Irv) Tucker, who is Robin Tucker's grandfather. Robin's father, I.L. (Tommy) Tucker began working at Tucker in 1945 as well. Robin's maternal grandmother is a 100% Czech. Robin's father, in his early school days in Cedar Rapids, lived in one of the Czech neighborhoods and attended the original Hayes School in Cedar Rapids. It was common, during Tommy's early years to hear Czech spoken here in our community.
Over the years, the Tucker® Pole Window Washers and Exterior Maintenance Systems have been used at various college and university campuses. We are proud to congratulate the University of Northern Iowa, located in Cedar Falls, in the Panthers first round win in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night in Oklahoma City. UNI is a customer of the Tucker Pole, along with a variety of colleges and universities.

As Hawkeye Football Fans, we prefer Rose Bowl births, but as a Customer of FedEx, the Orange Bowl is always nice
Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. enjoys many relationships over the 65 years we celebrate in 2010. Two of those relationships are the University of Iowa and FedEx in our company's history. As we welcome in the New Year and our 65Th year of business in 2010, we get to see both the University of Iowa and the FedEx Orange Bowl enjoy a reunion of sorts, with the 2010 Orange Bowl.
Robin and Tommy Tucker enjoyed a trip to South Beach and the 2003 FedEx Orange Bowl Game. The University of Iowa plays a major role in the history of Waterfed. FedEx plays an important role in shipping of Tucker Poles to destinations throughout the USA and the over 25 countries that FedEx has assisted in getting our products door to door or door to airport.
Robin and Tommy Tucker have enjoyed being season ticket holders dating back to the 1950s for Tommy and LaVerne Tucker and the 1970s for Robin. While Tommy and LaVerne don't get to too many Hawkeye home games today, Robin and Carole have enjoyed the 2009 Iowa football season very much and look forward to the conclusion in the 2010 Orange Bowl vs. Georgia Tech.
We want to thank the University of Iowa for their first purchase in 1957 of the Tucker® High Level Window Washer, which was adapted from the home-car washer that Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. began manufacturing in the mid-1950s. Waterfed has grown ever since ...
With the January 5Th date of the Orange Bowl this year, we will not be attending the game. Our operations will resume normal operations on Monday, January 4Th. You can expect Robin, Tommy and many Hawkeye fans throughout the globe tuning into this year's game!
