The City of Cedar Rapids will celebrate the closing days of the City's Annual Freedom Festival over the 4th.

Our offices will be closed in honor of Independence Day on July 4th.

We hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable Holiday, if you are here in the USA.

We will be open again on Thursday, July 5th, when we resume regular operations.

Health care costs are a concern to all businesses. During this luncheon, Senator Tom Harkin will discuss wellness and prevention, and the role that employers can play in helping their employees lead healthier lives. Having healthier employees can contain health care costs, improve productivity, and decrease absenteeism.

In 2005, Senator Harkin introduced the Healthy Lifestyles and Prevention America Act, which included tax credits for small businesses who implemented qualified wellness programs.

Cedar Rapids Rotary Club News

Normally, the Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids meets each Monday at Noon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Today's regularly weekly meeting will not be held due to observance of Independence Day this week.

I joined the club in September 1990. Both Irv and Tommy were members of this club prior to me. My daughter, who just graduated from high school, was a member of her school's Interact Club, one of 2 Interact Clubs in our area.

The 2007 Rotary Pribyl Junior Boys Golf Tournament will be held the week of August 6, 2007. Youth Golfers should register now to participate in this outstanding event.
