We want to wish I.L. 'Tommy' Tucker a Happy Birthday on May 9, 2011

Our founder I.L. 'Irv' Tucker founded Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. in 1945. He would have been 110 years old this year. Since 1945, one person has been associated with our company from the beginning and that would be Irv's son, Tommy, pictured to the left.

Today, Monday, May 9Th is Tommy's birthday. His son, Robin, celebrated his birthday on the Sunday, the 8Th. Another son, not involved with Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. anymore was born on the 5Th. May birthdays have been a family tradition for some.

On behalf of everyone at Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc., we want to wish Tommy a "Happy Birthday" as he is enjoying time with yet another family member, his daughter, Marcia. Marcia worked for Tucker back in college and moved to Arizona to enjoy a career in special education and working with special needs populations. She is married and has a daughter.

Irv Tucker would be proud today ... fourth generation participating in Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc.

As you may remember, Tucker Manufacturing Co. Inc. was founded in 1945 by Irv Tucker. Irv's son, I.L. (Tommy) Tucker was at his side back in 1945. Today, my father, Tommy, is the senior member of our organization, along with his wife, LaVerne, my mother, who has been involved in the business dating back to the 1950s.

My grandfather, I.L. "Irv" Tucker, would likely be very proud today with a fourth generation of our family involved in our business. Our daughter, Cheryl Tucker, has been assisting this summer her dad and mom, Robin and Carole Tucker, who are third generation. Cheryl will be heading back to university this fall, where she is studying medical biology, with an interest in pharmacy.

We want to wish Cheryl the very best in her fall semester. We also want reflect back and say 'thank you' to Irv Tucker, the founder of Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. He and his wife, Iva Mae, my grandmother, began the tradition over 64 years ago.

By the way, four generations have now been involved in the family business and have been involved in Rotary International. The motto of Rotary is 'Service Above Self.' The international service club has been a major part of our history with our company as well. It was an advertisement in The Rotarian back in the early 1960s that helped in developing relationships with some our distributors and customers. We celebrate our 45Th anniversary with our Japanese distributor through Rotary International and The Rotarian.

Cheryl was a member of Interact, while she attended Washington High School, here in Cedar Rapids. Irv, Tommy and myself have all been members of the Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids. I can be found at most Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids meetings every Monday at Noon.

Respectfully,

Robin Tucker

A cost effective way to clean exterior surfaces: Windows and more

Window cleaning and surface cleaning with the original reach and wash tool, better known as the Tucker® Pole Window Washers and Exterior Maintenance Systems have been available for over 5o years now.

Models reach up to 22, 45 and even 83 feet for the window washers.

Typically surface cleaning is up to 45 feet for signs, awnings, fascia and other exterior surfaces.

Historically, our products began with the in-house professional, back in the 1950s and 1960s. The building service contractors and later the professional window cleaners, especially in the 1980s when "spot free" water began to be incorporated with the Tucker Pole.

In the 1950s, I.L. "Irv" Tucker and his son, I.L. "Tommy" Tucker, were full-time in Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. They introduced the car-house washer, that in 1957 become the Tucker High-Level Window Washer.

Today, we have seen the development of professional cleaning through in-house professionals, building service contractors and professional window cleaners. Whether big or small, cleaning windows and other exterior surfaces can be done in-house, working safely from the ground with the Tucker Pole.
