The Flood of 2008 in Cedar Rapids, the Economy: Sticky patches

On June 13, 2008, the worst flood in our community's history crested at 31.12 feet. This past weekend, the third anniversary of the Flood of 2008 past. LaVerne Tucker celebrated her birthday on June 12Th. She is not as active in Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. as she once was, but as my mother and wife of I.L. 'Tommy' Tucker, her contributions have been priceless.

Sticky patch or meltdown?

This week we look at the slowing of the world economy. Is it, we ask, going through a sticky patch, or is it headed for meltdown? We reckon that the reasons for the recent dip in activity—the knock-on effects of the Japanese tsunami, the high oil price, tightening monetary policy in emerging markets—suggest that it should be only transient. But—and this is a big but—there is a real danger that political brinkmanship in both America (over the deficit) and Europe (over the euro crisis) may turn a temporary hiccup into a big problem.

October 1, 2010: A new month and a month for awareness

We welcome in the month of October. This month is the 25Th year anniversary of celebrating awareness, education and empowerment of breast cancer.

We celebrated our 65Th anniversary of business this year at Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. My grandmother, who was the spouse of our founder, I.L. "Irv" Tucker was a breast cancer survivor, during her later years in life. We found out today that one of our customers is currently fighting breast cancer in California. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and all facing this challenge in life.

As we head into the fourth quarter of 2010, we will be heading to Orlando the week of November 8Th for the 2010 ISSA/Interclean North America. We will be exhibiting our products at this years show. We hope to see those coming to Orlando for The Show.

What model is needed for the Job?

When it comes to exterior window cleaning and surface cleaning, having the right model and method of window washer or exterior maintenance system is required. It may be simply changing brushes, adding a gooseneck or detergent dispenser.

We have recently seen a pick up of our 12 foot models. These our models that reach up to 48 feet to 83 feet, though once you purchase a Tucker Pole. In many cases, customers and operators will take on and off handle sections as they prepare for various jobs. In many cases, having more than one model will provide for the highest utility, then trying to use one model for all.

It is always interesting to visit with customers, regarding how they are setting up waterfed in their operations. From a simple set up to a very customized approach, waterfed can be expand your business opportunties. Having the right tools for your operations is always good advise.
